We are seeking a full-time Mental Health Practitioner II.  Our services utilize evidenced-based practices and include a wide variety of interventions, including harm reduction strategies. Each resident collaborates with staff to develop individualized treatment goals and works toward an individualized vision of recovery.

The Mental Health Practitioner II will meet with residents to complete crisis assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, develop crisis plans and will conduct individual sessions to work on treatment plan goals. In addition this role will:

  • Stabilize crises and plan for crisis prevention
  • Facilitate groups on illness management and recovery topics
  • Provide information and/or referrals to resources in the community for increased support and stabilization
  • Coordinate care with community providers
  • Develop discharge plans
  • Provide psychoeducation about mental illness diagnoses and symptoms
  • Use brief therapeutic modalities to build coping skills
In addition to MHP II duties, this position has the role of Admissions Coordinator. Some of the responsibilities include coordinating referral and intake activities during weekday daytime hours as well as coordinating with other shifts to ensure efficient referral processes for our clients. Duties include collaborating with two other crisis programs Nancy Page Crisis Residence and Riverwind Crisis Residence.

Hours for this position are:
  • Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

All staff members attend supervision meetings, clinical review meetings via phone or in-person, and staff meetings and trainings.

Required qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in human services
    OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in human services
  • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in human services
  • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to pick-up shifts and offer coverage based on the needs of the program
  • Strength in time management and multi-tasking
  • Basic understanding and application of therapeutic modalities including crisis de-escalation, harm-reduction, and client-centered approaches
  • Enjoys a fast-paced work environment and a team collaborative in order to provide quality direct care to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, motivational interviewing, CBT, crisis intervention, DBT, trauma-informed care and psychiatric rehabilitation concepts
