Our Kindred Adolescent Recovery Program, a Rule 31 clinic, is seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (LADC/ADCT) to provide individual, group, and family services to adolescent clients with co-occurring disorders in an integrated treatment setting. Experience working with adolescents is required, and we strongly prefer experience with co-occurring disorders, juvenile justice, and a knowledge of adolescent treatment best-practices. Applicants with 30 hours of adolescent development training are also preferred, although this training will be made available to staff as needed. Kindred Adolescent Recovery will be a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), and a participant in People Incorporated's suite of services designed as part of the multi-state demonstration project of this exciting and innovative new approach to behavioral health care.

The Alcohol & Drug Counselor II (ADC) uses a person-centered approach to support the recovery of people with serious mental and chemical health needs. LADCs counsel and educate individuals, families and the community. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with clients serving as a role model for clients by demonstrating positive,
  • proactive and respectful communications
  • Providing one to one and group support, individualized interventions and crisis management using a client centered approach
  • Implementing a curriculum that addresses the needs of the clients, is based on their treatment plan and is culturally appropriate
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, treatment plans and discharge plans
  • Supporting the supervisor in providing internship opportunities for students
  • Ensuring individualized treatment strategies and skills development is consistent with client's needs and goals
  • Regularly and actively participate as a member of an inter-disciplinary team providing consultation and client services

This position is full-time and does require some evening and weekend hours

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding hire and must sign a statement attesting to that fact
  • Hold a current Minnesota Alcohol & Drug Counselor license or a current Minnesota ADC temporary permit


  • Associates Degree 
  • Two years full-time experience in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency environment


  • Bachelors Degree in a Social or Human Services field 
  • One year full-time experience working in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency environment

Referred Qualifications:

  • Experience counseling adolescents
  • Completion of 30 hours of training or a 3 credit course in adolescent development
