Kindred Adolescent Recovery Services is expanding to Coon Rapids! We are an innovative program offering integrated outpatient treatment services for adolescents with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. The Alcohol Drug Counselor III will provide direct clinical services to adolescents in an outpatient setting as well as conduct assessments, facilitate clinical consultation and collaboration, complete case management and clinical documentation tasks pursuant to MN 245G, and support the management team as the SUD clinician. The Alcohol & Drug Counselor III (ADC) uses a person-centered approach to support the recovery of people with serious mental and chemical health needs. LADCs counsel and educate individuals, families and the community. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with clients serving as a role model for clients by demonstrating positive,
  • proactive and respectful communications
  • Providing one to one and group support, individualized interventions and crisis management using a client centered approach
  • Implementing a curriculum that addresses the needs of the clients, is based on their treatment plan and is culturally appropriate
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, treatment plans and discharge plans
  • Supporting the supervisor in providing internship opportunities for students
  • Ensuring individualized treatment strategies and skills development is consistent with client's needs and goals
  • Regularly and actively participate as a member of an inter-disciplinary team providing consultation and client services

This position is full-time and does require some evening and weekend hours. A tentative schedule for this position: Tuesday-Friday - 10:30am - 8pm, Saturday - 9am-2pm. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding hire and must sign a statement attesting to that fact

AND EITHER

  • Associate's degree
  • Holds or is eligible for a current Minnesota ADC temporary permit
  • 4 years of full-time experience working in a Mental Health and/or Chemical Health environment

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a social services field
  • 3 years of full-time experience working in a Mental Health and/or Chemical Health environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates who have completed 30 hours of training or a 3 credit course in adolescent development
