People Incorporated serves people with mental illness in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro area. In 2017, we reached over 12,000 individuals through more than 60 different programs. Our Community Support Services division provides mental health services and support to people who live independently and need access to customized support for coping skills, wellness coaching, financial management, and household management.  Our participants live in their own space and we engage with them to empower them to achieve their goals and participate in their communities.

We are searching for a Mental Health Practitioner. We work in a fast paced and exciting environment where there is a lot of direct contact with clients. The independent living skills team is a community based mobile team that strives to provide quality in home services to our clients through out the Twin Cities metro area.  Responsibilities include:

  • Developing positive relationships that support participants in meeting their goals
  • Engaging participants in their mental health recovery
  • Collaborating with participants to assess their needs and create treatment plans
  • Providing intervention and de-escalation for participants experiencing mental health symptoms or crises
  • Documenting observable behaviors and symptoms
  • Coaching participants on independent living skills and coping mechanisms

All of our clients live independently.  We support our participants in creating and realizing their individualized visions of wellness and independence. 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and minimum age of 21 years
  • Excellent driving record, reliable car, and current auto insurance


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services
  • One year of full-time work experience with people who have a serious and persistent mental illness


  • Three years of full-time work experience with people who have a serious and persistent mental illness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, and/or other health conditions that impact mental health
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or human services
