The Northside Community Support Program (NCSP) is growing our team! We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner I to join us. NCSP is a unique community of hope and safety where you can be yourself, develop natural supports, and learn strategies to move forward in the world. We offer a variety of services including social and wellness activities, employment assistance and housing support. Our employees develop long term relationships with members and other services providers. We serve a community that is primarily African American and we value being part of our neighborhood. NCSP partners with four other People Incorporated programs on our campus that offer a range of supports to further our mission to support mental health and wellness in our community through collaboration and integration of care.

The Mental Health Practitioner I provides person centered support, advocacy, and outreach to members and the NCSP community. This person will help with intakes and connecting to resources and referrals.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • Connecting members to internal and external resources
  • Educating providers and other individuals on services at NCSP
  • Helping members identify, create, and work on recovery goals
  • Collaborating with program team on services and resources including housing and employment
  • Engaging with members to create a therapeutic community including offering de-escalation and crisis interventions
  • Provide support and staffing during drop-in center hours
  • Maintaining documentation and data collection

Hours for the position are Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Excellent driving record
  • Current auto insurance

AND EITHER

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services
  • 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cultural experiences that match the people in our neighborhood
  • Knowledge of Hennepin County resources
  • Experience working with adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness
