Northside Mental Health Clinic is a full service community mental health clinic providing individual therapy, group therapy and associated psychiatric services. We aim to provide the highest-quality care based on best practices, and work collaboratively with each person or family to address mental health issues, optimize health and wellness, and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate obstacles to independence.

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking candidates for a Mental Health Practitioner position.  This position is responsible for providing administrative support and acting as a point of contact with external and internal customers. In addition this role manages financial data reporting, coordinates projects, and liaises with other administrative business partners. Responsibilities of the Mental Health Practitioner are:

  • Create a welcoming and supportive first impression for people who are navigating our services in person or over the phone
  • Develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals
  • Obtain initial demographic, financial, health information and insurance data
  • Create consumer accounts, provide program orientation, take vitals, conduct tobacco screenings and assist clients with paperwork
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms
  • Effectively interact and exhibit behavior that is consistent with customer service and professional standards
  • Provide information and/or referrals to resources in the community for increased support and stabilization

This position is located at our Northside Mental Health Clinic location at 1309 Girard Avenue North in Minneapolis

All staff members attend monthly supervision meetings, weekly clinical review meetings, and monthly staff meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of working with adults with mental illness
  • A strong commitment to direct practice
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency using electronic medical records


  • High School diploma / GED
  • 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strength in time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Basic understanding of therapeutic modalities with an ability to demonstrate application of these techniques through a client-centered approach
  • Basic understanding of treatment planning
  • Previous experience co-facilitating groups and managing group dynamics
  • Enjoys a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrates strength collaborating on a multidisciplinary team
