Hennepin County Adult Foster Care is a program for Deaf/Deafblind/Hard of Hearing adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or a mental illness diagnosis co-occurring with a chronic medical condition. American Sign Language (ASL) is the primary mode of communication which offers our residents a strong sense of community with other deaf adults and strengthens our support activities in a culturally affirmative environment.  We provide an array of individualized services to our residents to help maintain independent living in a community setting.

We support clients who come from a variety of backgrounds, including recent high school graduates, psychiatric hospital discharges, and those living independently in the community or with family members. All must be adults (18+) who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Deaf-blind and experience a mental illness. Individuals must be waiver eligible, including CADI , DD and TBI waivers.

We are searching for a Program Supervisor I who will oversee a program, supervising a team and ensuring that our clients receive excellent care that meets licensing and company standards.  Duties may include:

  • Facilitates partnerships and nurtures relationships with stakeholders in order to meet the overall health needs of clients
  • Creating a sense of community and team among staff and clients
  • Hiring and orienting program staff
  • Supervising and coaching staff for excellence in quality of services
  • Helping staff in the development of skills
  • Coordinating program schedules and meetings
  • Modeling person-centered care
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with program staff and other program managers

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • High school diploma
  • Excellent driving record, reliable car, and current auto insurance

AND EITHER

  • Bachelor's degree in behavior science
  • One year of full-time experience in human services

OR

  • Five years of full-time experience in human services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing services to people with mental illnesses
